An Open Jeep with a Baby Seat?

IMG_1946_resize

IMG_1947_resizeI was going to work and came up on a guy driving a Jeep and in the back seat was a baby’s car seat. Now I owned a Jeep for several years and I just don’t know about putting a baby back there. It’s not just the fact of it’s pretty unsafe but the fact of the wind and bugs beaming the baby. I’m not in his shoes and I’m really not trying to judge but what does everyone else thing?

Now remember I grew up in a era with no car seats, no seat belts, and no A/C in the cars so our windows had to stay down. I had to ride in the back of an Ford F-100 Custom Truck from the time I was 6 – 14 or so. When I was 4 or 5 my step father took me on the Interstate on a motorcycle. ( I still question both my mothers and his decision on that judgement call and that was over 45 years ago)

It’s not illegal for what he’s doing but I won’t be carrying my baby in the back of a Jeep, but that’s just my own decision.

Driving Alone

75 gentleman jimI’ve driving many a time alone a few times for a couple of days at a time. I can’t really say I liked it because I didn’t. I would rather have someone traveling with me, if for nothing else the companionship.

Driving alone you do a lot of day dreaming and thinking. You reflect on your past and sometimes get very depressed with all the regrets. We all wish we would have done or handled a few things in our life a little different than what we did. But if you had would you be in the same spot as you are today. I mean if it was an old girlfriend you broke up with and you could change it and didn’t break up with them, how much would your life have changed. It’s like going left when you should have when right, but by going left you found the love of your life. So that one change in direction, even for a moment, could change the entire direction of your life. You’ll never know if it’s better or worse.
Those are the kinds of thought I use to have driving alone… but then I realized that I’m very happy with my life and where I’m at. I don’t want to change anything, so those regrets in my life are not really regrets. So when you’re watching the “Butterfly Effects” think about that. In the movie these people go back and one of them kills a small butterfly. That cause a change in the entire history, which of course changes the entire present.

What I’m saying is I no longer have any regrets…

Freaky Friday

snowmanMy wife care is in the shop so I had to ride my bike in this morning… what a great ride it was. Even though it only lasted 20 minutes it was refreshing as hell. There was no traffic and I was able to just relax. Besides being 50 degrees, and my bikes low fuel light came on, it was one of the best rides I’ve had in a very long time. The amazing part is it was only about 20 minutes long.

Well I get some gas on the way home and it’ll be warming, if I make it through the day. Gary is still crazy and I’m unarmed today, so I feel like a target. Our phones and internet just went down as well, maybe the little nut job is on the attack!

I have two printers and neither one will work…hmm…it’s a conspiracy!  We finally got email and phones back, my lunch tasted like crap, so what is next?

I’m trying to get ready to teach my class all day tomorrow and then go camping with my sons afterwards. I’ll probably just meet them at the campgrounds at 5:30 or so. Hopefully they’ll have the site already set up when I get there. We’re having fried fish for dinner. I’m taking a bag of fish just in case they don’t catch any.

I’m doing my “Manly Video”  tomorrow night and Sunday morning. We’re going to eat fish we caught, build a fire, sleep on the ground, ride my bike there, cook a manly breakfast, and many other manly things that only men do. lol Damn it’s going to be a long day tomorrow. I need some beer to help me get through it. Especially if Shannon and the kids are leaving Sunday afternoon to head to West Virginia. It will be just Richie and I all next week.

It’s Pizza Monday, Taco Tuesday, Dirty Rice Wednesday, Taquitos Thursday, and Fish Fry Friday.  We only use 1 plate each, 1 tervis each, 1 fork and spoon each, and we each clean up after ourselves.

Throwback Thursdays…

Fonz_PicI’m setting at my desk jamin’ to ELO’s “Out of the Blue” album. Thinking about the late 70’s. Disco was still and the Bee Gees were at the top of the charts.  “Mac Arthur Park” by Donna Summer was playing on the radio and I was wondering why anyone would leave a cake out in the rain. Loving the look on the 79 Camaro Z-28 and just started High School.  What a rockin’ time that was.

Vietnam had been over for a few years but a lot of the soldiers were still integrating back into civilian life. Gas was under $.65 a gallon and our 8 track players were kickin’ some village people. The Son of Sam was sentence, and we all were still in awe of the original “Star Wars”.  Close Encounters of the Third Kind was also just released and of course the Fonz was my HERO.  Don’t forget “Threes Company and Charlies Angels kept everyone under 30 with a boner. Ah… those were the days!

We’ll you can’t go back and I’m not real sure I’d wan’t to. Life is the way it is suppose to be and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Top Ten Reasons Why You Should Not Talk to the Police

REASON #1: Talking to the police CANNOT help you. – If the police are talking to you you’re a suspect. They’re just fishing for more information and something that can use as a confession.

REASON #2: Even if you’re guilty, and you want to confess and get it off your chest, you still shouldn’t talk to the police. – Ask for an attorney and do it through them. There will be plenty of time for a confession, take some time to think.

REASON #3: Even if you are innocent, it’s easy to tell some little white lie in the course of a statement. You’re nervous and could be confused and it’s easy to make a mistake or leave something out. If the police have evidence of that lie, it makes your entire statement look like a lie. The prosecutor will ask: “Why did he lie to the police? Why indeed would he lie to the police, unless he were guilty?”

REASON #4: Even if you are innocent, and you only tell the truth, and you don’t tell any little white lies, it is possible to give the police some detail of information that can be used to convict you.

For example, a suspect is being questioned about a murder. He is truly innocent of the murder. But in the course of explaining his innocence, he makes the statement that he never liked the victim, because the victim was not a nice guy. A statement like that could be used to prove motive.

REASON #5: Even if you were innocent, and you only tell the truth, and you don’t tell any little white lies, and you don’t give the police any information that can be used against you to prove motive or opportunity, you still should not talk to the police because the possibility that the police might not recall your statement with 100% accuracy.

REASON #6: Even if you’re innocent, and you only tell the truth, and your entire statement is videotaped so that the police don’t have to rely on their memory, an innocent person can still make some innocent assumption about a fact or state some detail about the case they overheard on the way to the police station, and the police will assume that they only way the suspect could have known that fact or that detail was if he was, in fact, guilty.

REASON #7: Even if you’re innocent, and you only tell the truth in your statement, and you give the police no information that can be used against you, and the whole statement is videotaped, a suspect’s answers can still be used against him if the police (through no fault of their own) have any evidence that any of the suspect’s statements are false (even if they are really true).

REASON #8: The police do not have authority to make deals or grant a suspect leniency in exchange for getting as statement.

You hear all the time that someone gave a statement to the police because the police told them that they would be better off if they confessed, better off if they admitted what they did wrong, better off if they cooperated. The police will make vague statements that things will go easier on the suspect if he simply admits what he did wrong. The police will also make vague statements suggesting that they will do what they can to help the suspect, that they will put in a good word for the suspect, if the suspect will just come clean.

Number One thing to remember: The police do not have authority to make deals, grant immunity, or negotiate plea agreements.

REASON #9: Even if a suspect is guilty, and wants to confess, there may be mitigating factors which justify a lesser charge.

REASON #10: Even for a completely honest and innocent person, it is difficult to tell the same story twice in exactly the same way.

If you tell your story one time at trial and you tell the truth and you’re innocent, there’s very little the prosecutor can do by way of cross examination. But if you’ve told your story twice, once at trial, and once previously in a statement to the police, many months apart, the chances are very high that, even if you are telling the truth, some little details in your statement are going to change.

A good cross examiner will pick up on these changes and will relentlessly question you about them in an effort to make it look like you are lying.

When they tell you that you have a right to an Attorney… ask for an Attorney and don’t say another word.

My New Lens

I really love my new camera and lens. My wife got me the camera and my sister and brother-in-law got me the lens for my 50th birthday… I’ve had so much fun with it and I love photography!

wasp

It’s an EF 100 macro lens for taking close up pictures. It’s hard to get a camera to focus when you try and get close to something so that is what this lens is made for… and it’s awesome along with the camera!

Thanks Shannon, Bob, and Rhonda for an Awesome Birthday gift!

We’re Having Taco Bell

IMG_69564It’s not even Tuesday and we’re having Taco Bell for Dinner! YAY! I love tacos, especially my home made tacos.  My wife said she had been caught up doing other things and wanted to know what I wanted for dinner and of course I said, Taco baby!

So, I’m having a couple chicken soft tacos, and a tostada! I really don’t mind Taco Bell every now and then, but I still don’t think I’ll be eating any breakfast Taco’s from there. I guess at the end of this month they’re going to start doing breakfast.

Maybe it’s really not the taco that sound good, maybe it’s the fact I’m freakin’ starving right now…LOL Well I guess it really could be either one!

2 chicken Tacos and a Nacho…. I’m nacho gonna be you friend anymore…

Great Day at the Beach

reblogThis weekend has been a family weekend for us. Yesterday, Shannon, the girls, and I spent all day together. Today I got up made us chipped beef breakfast (our first time having it) and then spent the day together out on the beach.

We first went to a park and took some pictures, the kids played for the longest time on the playground. We then went back to the beach and took more photos, and again the kids played on the playground. At Pine Island there was a drum band playing on the beach… sort of a hippie band and a few women were dancing around. Everyone was super friendly and I got a lot of photos.

We then went in search of dinner and finally decided on Hooters! It was a good meal but just good, not GREAT. I guess with the price of their food and beer having went up less people are actually eating there. Well I will still get my buffalo wings from them… damn they’re good.

Dinosaur World

I hadn’t realize how long it had been since we went to Dinosaur World.  My youngest son was 7 or 8 and now he’s going on 16, so at least 8 maybe 9 years ago. Wow it didn’t seem that long ago… but after looking at the previous photos it was back in 2006.

Damn, what it going to be another 8 years and I’ll be taking my grand-kids there. We really needs to try and take the girls every couple of years and spend the day. It’s $15 for adults and $11 for kids, children under 3 is free.

We’ll I had a great day today and I think everyone else did as well. We saw and we kicked their asses! lol … damn those 5 Tylenol and 2 hydrocodone must be kicking in. My body has almost stop hurting. You know you’re old when that happens.
