The Cabin in the Woods

“The Cabin in the Woods” could very well have been named “The Last Horror Movie”. It would very neatly sum up what this flick seems to be aiming to accomplish. This is one that I left thinking… did I like it or hate it, and I’m unsure. I don’t think I’d ever watch it again but I don’t regret watching it.  I have to say it’s nothing that I had expected from Joss Whedon. It totally took me by surprise and went in a direction I’d never would have imagined. So here I am writing about it and I’m still as confused as when it ended. Would I recommend it …sure, but it won’t be what you expect.

Thor does not save the day I guess.

John Carter

John Carter was not the best movie I’ve ever seen but I found it entertaining to watch. Me and my sons both thought the movie was a good watch and would recommend it to others as a pretty good movie. It not a great movie though, in a lot of scene I think they borrowed some stuff from “Star Wars”. Even my son said something about it. Give it a watch and let me know what you think.

3:10 to Yuma

3:10 to Yuma (2007) – Probably one of the best western movies made in the past 30 years or so. Christian Bale plays a down and out farmer who takes on a job transporting an outlaw (Russell Crowe) to Yuma. Of course it’s a challenge to get him there with a lot of obstetrical to overcome.

Ben Foster plays an excellent Charlie Prince, Crowes partner.

If you haven’t seen it… get it and watch it!

Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959)

Bela Lugosi stars in this sci-fi thriller. Aliens land and bring the dead couple back to life. Bela Lugosi brings his Dracula role to sci-fi! His Vampira wife has some nice tits though. You can see the fishing line holding up the flying Saucers in several parts. Aliens won’t concur the earth anytime soon.

The movie has horrible special effects, poor set design, bad acting, and even worse story line. It’s a classic sci-fi horror movie. This has to be one of the worst movies of all time! LOL

Jaws is still one of the Best Movies of all time too!

The Lady from Shanghai

(1947) Starring Rita Hayworth and Orson Welles. Not a great movie but staged in tropics and Orson Welles doesn’t make a bad movie. It’s a suspense mystery and it worth a late night watch.  Did not end the way I had predicted.

The Third Man

The Third Man (1949) With Joseph Cotten, Orson Wells, and Trevor Howard. Great black and white movie. Excellent work with sound and lighting. It has friendship, betrayal, love story, and mystery. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

12 Angry Men

A great movie made in 1957 about a jury that once convened fined the facts are not so factual.  Once man (Henry Fonda) votes not guilty against the other 11 men. They all have to agree one way or another so the discussions begin.  I would highly recommend this movie to anyone.

Wolfman

This was the new The Wolfman (2010). I love the old black and whites and this one stayed true to those.  It’s hard to beat Lon Chaney Jr., Clude Rains, and Bela Lugosi who stared in The 1941 Wolfman but the special effects were very cool. It’s worth a watch for a late night Friday night movie.
