Ironclad – review

IroncladFor What It’s Worth ~

Ironclad was an action packed fighting movie. The  ‘Knights Templar’ played by James Purefoy and King John played by the excellent actor Paul Giamatti. The movie had some bloody scene and awesome battles.

In 1215 the noblemen of England force King John to sign the “Magna Carta”. This is a story (fictional) of what happened after that event. Fictional but still a very good story.

The movie didn’t get great reviews but I thought it was a movie worth watching.

The Last Legion – review

For What It’s Worth ~

The movie didn’t get great reviews but I enjoyed this action packed movie.  Knowing something about history I do realize they took the liberty of a few rewrites for the story line. I thought it worked in very well, especially with Merlin and Arthur at the end. Also the introduction of the sword, Excalibur.

And a very hot Indian babe…

A Day at the Races

Marx Brothers (A Day at the Races)_03For What It’s Worth ~

A Day at the Races is another classic Marx Brothers movie. Groucho and Dr. Dr. Hackenbush running around a sanitarium driving every crazy. He has help from Chico and Harpo his brothers in the great comedy. The movie was set in 1937.  I’m not sure if it’s one of their greats but it is a good movie. It has some great musical and dance scenes in the movie. A one part it focuses on black america as in the 1930’s with big bands, singing and dancing!

The movies is worth watching when you’re in for a good black and white comedy.

Fast and Furious 6 – review

Fast And Furious 6

For What It’s Worth ~

Fast and Furious 6 was as good and the other 4. The reason I said 4 I’m not really sure if  “Tokyo Drift – Fast and Furious #3 counts. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and the Rock play awesome racing team.  Again they join together to get a criminal mastermind. Just like the others, hot women, fast cars and packed with action.

I’ve enjoy all 5 “Fast and Furious” and even thought Tokyo Drift was OK. I would say if you liked the others you’ll like this one as well. They left this one open that there will be a “Fast and Furious 7” ! I’ll see this at the theater.

Total Recall – 2012 Review

For What It’s Worth ~

The new “Total Recall” was much better than the original. Colin Farrell played a much better Douglas Quaid / Carl Hauser than Arnold. The lady with the 3 boobies made the movie in my opinion… hmm… maybe I just liked the boobs.

The whole concept of    implanting memories directly into someone’s brain is a very cool idea. Instead of going on vacation all you need is the memories of a vacation. lol

I can’t say this was a great movie but it’s one that I really liked. Out of 10 stars I’d give it a 7 and worth a watch.

Hobo with a Shotgun – review

hobo_shotgunFor What It’s Worth ~

Well guess what “Hobo with a Shotgun” was about? The had to be one of the most bizarre, dumbest, weird movies that I’ve ever watched? Bad language, bad acting, bad effects, bad … well just about everything.

Why I didn’t shut this off I’ll never know. Maybe I was hopping it would get better or something.  Rutger Hauer plays a hobo who gets off a train in the most bizarre town ever. Criminals run the town murdering, raping, and doing anything they want without the police noticing. I’m still wondering why the people didn’t just leave the town or buy a gun to protect themselves… but they wait for the vigilante hobo to buy a shotgun and save the town.  See what a Tard movie it was? Please don’t waste 1 1/2 hours of you life on this…

Animal Crackers

animal-crackersForth What It’s Worth ~

Animal Crackers by the all 4 Marx Brothers is a old funny movie. The show movie was made in 1930 and written by George S. Kaufman who wrote several Marx Brothers movies.

The movie was full of 1 liners by Groucho while Harpo and Chico played the bizarre comedic parts.  Zeppo, who only played in a few of the movies with his brothers played his normal strait man part. (Horatio Jamison) This is another one of the Marx Brothers movies that I really liked. There have been a few I didn’t care for. But the acting was good, great scenery, and excellent supporting actors.  Plus I love seeing all the Marx’s together! This is one of their better movies that they had made.

The Man Who Would Be King

King2

For What It’s Worth ~

” The Man Who Would Be King” was a 8 1/2 out of 10 star movie in my opinion.  Sean Connery and Michael Caine played to best friends who went off to find fame and fortune. Christopher Plummer plays and excellent “Rudyard Kipling”, I’m not sued to seeing a younger Christopher Plummer.  I would say this movies deserves a watch. It’s was made in 1975 and the lighting, sound, shadows, and acting was done very well.

I need to point out a co-star Saeed Jaffrey, who played Billy Fish, did a great job. I really enjoyed this movie.

The Day After Tomorrow – Review

The-Day-After-TomorrowFor What It’s Worth ~

There is some great effects in this movie. It’s a great concept and I’ve always enjoyed watching Dennis Quaid movies. The movie has some great special effect and it very cool the way it’s done. I also like the actor “Jake Gyllenhaal”  who plays in this as well.

There is a storm that plunges the planet into a new Ice Age. Quaid has to go in search of his son who is trapped. The movie did keep me entertained … Not a great movie but it’s worth a watch.

28 Days Later – Review

haircutFor What It’s Worth ~

I’m watching the movie and 15 minutes into it I realize I’ve seen the movie, or part of it, before. It’s a zombie movie like many others. But this has a real plot and explanation on how it happened. It’s an English movie so they are just a little different than American movies. I did notice one of the Dr. Who’s and the Scarecrow from Batman stared in this movie. Of course it ends up about men needed companionship. When these girls come to a military post the men capture them for entertainment. Until their companion comes for them.

I have to admit this was one of the better Zombie movies that I’ve seen. It makes you wonder how we’d react if something like this did happen. If it’s on TV, or you have the movie then give it a watch. If you have to rent it well… I’d think twice.

There was a couple of times I went to turn the movie off. I probably should have…LOL
